Quarterly IC Meetings
The POSH Act, 2013 requires the Internal Committee (IC) to meet at least once in every three months. These quarterly meetings are a critical part of the compliance framework — ensuring the IC remains active, informed and ready to handle complaints effectively. Many organisations overlook this requirement, which can expose them to legal and reputational risk.
Why quarterly IC meetings matter
- Ensure the IC is functioning as required under the law
- Provide a regular forum to review any pending complaints or cases
- Keep IC members updated on any changes in the law or procedures
- Reinforce the organisation’s commitment to a safe workplace
- Create a documented record of IC activity for the annual report
What should be covered in each meeting
- Review of any complaints received, pending or resolved since the last meeting
- Discussion of any awareness or training activities conducted
- Review of the organisation’s POSH policy — particularly after any changes in law
- Planning of upcoming awareness sessions or workshops
- Discussion on any patterns, risks or concerns observed in the workplace
- Preparation of minutes and documentation for the annual report
